Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of well intervention experience in the Oil & Gas sector.
• Expertise in fishing, milling, perforating, acidizing, fracturing, and artificial lift systems (ESPs, rod pumps, gas lift).
• Strong understanding of wellbore integrity and completion equipment.
• IWCF certification is desirable.
• Willingness to travel extensively to field locations around Polokwane, Limpopo, ZA.

About the Role

Our client, a key player in the South African Oil & Gas industry, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Well Intervention Specialist for a contract position based in Polokwane, Limpopo, ZA. This role is critical for ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of producing wells through expert planning and execution of intervention operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands‑on experience in a wide range of well intervention techniques, including workovers, artificial lift optimization, and stimulation. You will be responsible for supervising operations, ensuring safety protocols are strictly adhered to, and optimizing well productivity. This is a field-based role requiring a proactive and technically proficient individual who can make critical decisions on‑site. Key Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and execute well intervention operations, including workovers, completions, and artificial lift installations/servicing.
• Supervise field operations, ensuring adherence to safety procedures, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Select appropriate equipment, tools, and services for well intervention activities.
• Analyze well performance data and recommend intervention strategies to improve production and recovery.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for well intervention operations.
• Manage relationships with service providers and contractors, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Oversee the preparation of detailed operational plans, cost estimates, and end-of-job reports.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and provide timely solutions to minimize downtime.
• Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of all intervention activities.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and techniques in well intervention.
• Mentor junior field staff and promote a strong safety culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in well intervention operations within the Oil & Gas sector.
• Proven expertise in various intervention techniques, such as fishing, milling, perforating, acidizing, fracturing, and artificial lift systems (ESPs, rod pumps, gas lift).
• Strong understanding of wellbore integrity, well control principles, and completion equipment.
• Experience with wireline and coiled tubing operations.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a demanding field environment and under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid IWCF certification is highly desirable.
• Must be willing to travel extensively to field locations in and around Polokwane, Limpopo, ZA.
