Job description

RINA is currently looking for an Welding Inspector:

Location: South Africa, Cape Town
Duration: until February 2027
Requirements: SAIW level 2, be entitled to work in SA

The Welding Inspector is responsible for:

• Reviewing production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and

specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.

• Planning production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
• Preparing operational schedules and coordinating manufacturing activities to ensure production and

quality of products meets specifications.- Reviewing production and operating reports and resolving operational, manufacturing, and maintenance

problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

• Inspecting machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
• Developing or revising standard operational and working practices and observing workers to ensure

compliance with standards.

• Compiling, storing, and retrieving production data.
• Managing all hourly employees in the assigned departments. He is responsible for the overall direction,

coordination and evaluation of these units.

• Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable

laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and

directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints

and resolving problems.

• Assuring a clean and safe working environment for all employees, emphasizing prevention of potential

hazardous conditions. Addresses unsafe acts and unsafe conditions. Conducting safety training for

employees. Reporting accidents in a timely manner and participating in accident investigations as

required.

• Leading continuous improvement efforts in manufacturing, safety, quality, throughput, delivery, and

operating costs.

• Managing department with a target of zero lost time injuries and recordable within site goal.
• Responsible for managing all production welding related issues for the site.
• Managing all day-to-day welding related activities. Setting priorities, capacity-planning, level loading

strategies, and headcount assessments.

• Responsible for overall factory weld shop performance in terms of on-time delivery, quality, weld count

and cost (cycle time and overtime).

• Responsible for initiating and implementing Manufacturing Process Capability and Continuous quality

improvement.

• Reviewing and overseeing weld shop design for optimal efficiency.
• Driving for continuous culture improvement throughout entire welding process.
• Developing and maintaining training/certification programs for welding team members.
• Working closely with all support organizations (Materials, Engineering, Quality, etc.) to resolve Customer

issues, mitigate delivery and schedule problems, and expedite closure of material shortages.
