Job summary

RINA is seeking a QC inspector with a welding background in Eastern Cape to oversee welding tests and visual inspections. The role involves ensuring welded steel meets customer specifications and that all QA/QC steps are followed to support production flow.

You will review welding requirements for field structures, vessels, tanks and boilers, and prepare documentation for customer certification. Strong interpretation of drawings and welding procedures is essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Witness welding tests and inspections.
• Perform visual inspections of welded joints.
• Ensure welding meets customer specs and QA/QC requirements.

• Verify welding parameters and consumables during activities.

• Interpret drawings and standards of moderate complexity.
• Assist QA/QC Manager in administering the quality program.
• Ensure production staff understand applicable standards.
• Identify and resolve quality non-conformances promptly.
• Provide QC clarifications to shop staff as needed.
• Collaborate with QA/QC team to implement the quality program.

Job description

RINA is currently looking for a QC inspector with Welding background in Eastern Cape:

The Inspector is responsible for:

• Witnessing the welding tests controls and inspections carried out.
• Having overall responsibility for performing the visual inspection of welded joints.
• Ensuring that the fabricated steel is welded as planned, meets Customer specifications, and inspections are completed as required to support workflow and sequence.
• Review welding requirements for field erected structures, vessels, tanks, boilers and other process plants.
• Reporting and maintaining inspection results. Preparing documentation required by the Customer for certification that all quality procedures were followed.
• Verifying welding parameters and consumables during installation/construction activities.
• Verifying procedures and welders qualifications.
• Checking the availability and suitability of the welding equipment, filler material, pre-heating, welding
• Performing in-process weld inspections and heavy structural steel welded assemblies.
• Monitoring, and executing activities related to ensuring that inspections of welded assemblies are completed to the requirements of applicable specifications and codes.
• Ensuring that all welding, heat treatment and any hardness testing are in compliance with the relevant codes and specifications.
• Interpreting drawings, Customer specifications and standards of moderate complexity.
• Assisting the Quality Control Manager in administering the quality program at assigned plant.
• Ensuring that all production-related employees understand and follow applicable standards.
• Assisting in identifying and solving quality non-conformances in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Assisting shop employees with questions and clarifications on QC issues as needed.
• Working with QA/QC team to ensure the quality control program designed to make sure continuous production of products consistent with established standards is implemented and being followed.
• Addressing quality issues related to non-conforming material or components, and obtaining timely disposition in order to maintain production flow.
