Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a knowledgeable Water Resources Engineer to join our client in Upington, Northern Cape. The role focuses on feasibility studies, conceptual designs for water supply networks, treatment plants, and drainage systems, with emphasis on hydrology and hydraulic modeling.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of water resources experience, familiarity with EPANET/HEC-RAS/InfoWorks, and strong reporting capabilities.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources or Environmental Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in water resources engineering, focusing on feasibility studies and conceptual design.
• Demonstrated experience in hydrological and hydraulic modeling (EPANET, HEC-RAS, InfoWorks).
• Proficiency in technical report writing and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive feasibility studies for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Perform hydrological and hydraulic analyses to assess water resource availability and demand.
• Develop conceptual designs for water supply networks, treatment plants, and drainage systems.
• Utilize hydraulic modeling software to simulate water flow, flood levels, and system performance.
• Assess the environmental impact of proposed water resource projects.
• Prepare technical reports, memos, and presentations detailing study findings and recommendations.
• Collaborate with environmental scientists, geotechnical engineers, and other specialists.
• Liaise with government agencies and local authorities to ensure regulatory compliance and obtain necessary approvals.
• Assist in the preparation of project proposals and tender documents.
