Placements24 seeks a Hydraulics Engineer for our Upington, Northern Cape office. The role focuses on designing water supply, distribution and wastewater networks, using hydraulic models to optimize performance and ensure reliable services.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s in Hydraulic/Civil Engineering, Pr. Eng. with ECSA, and 7+ years in hydraulic design and water resources, along with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Hydraulic/Civil Engineering with Water Resources specialization.
• Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA.
• 7+ years of hydraulic design and water resource management experience.
• Experience with hydraulic modeling software and network analysis tools.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze hydraulic systems for water supply, distribution, and wastewater networks.
• Develop and use hydraulic models (EPANET, InfoWorks WS Pro) to simulate performance.
• Conduct hydraulic capacity assessments and network analyses for new and existing infrastructure.
• Prepare design reports, calculations, and technical specifications for hydraulic structures.
• Liaise with clients, regulators, and construction teams throughout projects.
• Oversee construction activities and ensure compliance with design standards.
• Investigate and resolve operational issues in water and wastewater systems.
• Contribute to feasibility studies and conceptual water resource designs.
• Stay current with industry best practices and advancements.
