Key responsibilities include measuring airflow, running simulations, developing ventilation plans, and coordinating with mine planning. A degree in Mining Engineering with ventilation specialization and 5+ years of underground mining experience are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering with ventilation specialization.
• Minimum 5 years in mine ventilation engineering, preferably underground gold or platinum mining.
• Proficient with mine ventilation software (Ventsim, VentGraph).
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and psychrometrics in mine environments.
• Experience with dust suppression and gas monitoring technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, and maintain mine ventilation systems, including fans, ducting, and air conditioning units.
• Conduct airflow measurements and simulations to ensure optimal ventilation design and performance.
• Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, dust, gases) and implement control strategies.
• Develop and manage ventilation plans in accordance with regulatory requirements and safety standards.
• Troubleshoot ventilation-related issues and propose improvements.
• Collaborate with mine planning and production teams to integrate ventilation requirements into mine design.
