Placements24 is seeking a Ventilation Engineer for underground mining operations near Benoni, Gauteng. The role focuses on designing and maintaining ventilation systems to ensure safe air quality, temperature control, and regulatory compliance.

You will work with mine planning and safety to meet production targets while safeguarding personnel. The position requires a degree in mining/mechanical engineering with a ventilation focus and at least five years of relevant experience, plus proficiency

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with a focus on ventilation.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering.
• Proficiency in mine ventilation simulation software (e.g., Ventsim, Minesight).
• Strong knowledge of mine environmental regulations and best practices.
• Experience with ventilation measurement equipment and data analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, evaluate, and optimize underground mine ventilation systems.
• Conduct airflow measurements, thermal surveys, and gas monitoring.
• Develop ventilation plans and strategies to meet production and safety requirements.
• Ensure compliance with ventilation standards and occupational exposure limits.
• Troubleshoot ventilation issues and recommend solutions for air quality and temperature control.
• Collaborate with mine planning and safety departments on ventilation-related matters.
