Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Senior Mine Ventilation Engineer for an on-site role in Benoni. The incumbent will design, implement, and oversee ventilation systems for underground operations, ensuring air quality, temperature control, and gas management.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in mine ventilation, expertise in ventilation modeling software, and familiarity with South African mining regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering degree with ventilation specialization required.
• 7+ years of underground mine ventilation experience required.
• Proficiency in mine ventilation software and data analysis.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and environmental monitoring.
• Familiarity with SA mining ventilation legislation and standards.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize ventilation networks to meet air quality and thermal standards.
• Conduct ventilation surveys: airflow, gas monitoring, dust sampling.
• Use Ventsim/Whittle to model networks and assess changes.
• Develop and implement dust suppression and control strategies.
• Ensure compliance with mine health and safety ventilation regulations.
• Provide technical support and training to ventilation staff and operations.
• Manage procurement and maintenance of ventilation equipment (fans, auxiliary systems).
