Job summary

Sasol is looking for a Senior Drilling Assistant to supervise shift operations at Sasolburg in the Free State, ensuring performance targets are met in line with safety policies. The role includes housekeeping, hazard identification, and ensuring compliance with SHE standards while coordinating with driller and geology teams.

The position requires extensive underground coal experience, MOCC certification, and the ability to make decisions, lead teams, and report on progress.

Qualifications

• Formal mining qualifications and MOCC required.
• 6 years underground coal mining experience including supervisory roles.
• Mine Overseer experience or readiness to assume Senior Drilling Assistant duties.

Responsibilities

• Supervise shift/plant operations to meet performance targets and safety policies.
• Conduct shift inspections and daily equipment inspections to ensure reliability.
• Control costs, manage resources, and uphold POLC principles.
• Prepare and submit shift, month-end, and other operational reports.
• Maintain housekeeping and identify hazards per SHE standards.
• Develop relationships with managers and peers to support mine operations.
