Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Telecoms Radio Access Network (RAN) Engineer to join our advanced technology team in Upington. You will design, deploy, and optimize RAN infrastructure for 4G/5G to deliver high-quality voice and data services across the region.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in RAN design and optimization, deep knowledge of 3GPP standards, LTE/4G, and 5G NR, plus experience with planning tools and drive testing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in RAN design, planning, and optimization.
  • In-depth knowledge of 3GPP standards, LTE/4G, and 5G NR technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage RAN elements for 4G/5G networks.
  • Plan, optimize, and troubleshoot to improve coverage and QoS.
  • Analyze performance metrics and implement configuration changes.
  • Collaborate with planning and operations teams to integrate new RAN sites and technologies.
  • Develop technical specifications and evaluate new RAN equipment and vendor solutions.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Telecoms Radio Access Network (RAN) Engineer to join their advanced technology team in Upington . This role is critical for the design, optimization, and deployment of our mobile network's Radio Access Network infrastructure, ensuring high-quality voice and data services. You will be involved in cutting-edge technologies, working to enhance network performance, coverage, and capacity. Key Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, and manage RAN elements , including base stations, antennas, and related equipment for 4G and 5G networks.
  • Perform network planning, optimization, and troubleshooting to improve coverage, capacity, and quality of service (QoS).
  • Analyze network performance metrics and implement configuration changes to enhance user experience.
  • Collaborate with planning and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of new RAN sites and technologies.
  • Develop technical specifications and participate in the evaluation of new RAN equipment and vendor solutions.
  • Stay current with the latest developments in mobile network technologies and industry best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Radio Access Network design, planning, and optimization.
  • In-depth knowledge of 3GPP standards, LTE/4G, and 5G NR technologies.
  • Experience with RAN planning tools, performance analysis software, and drive testing tools.
  • Familiarity with various RAN architectures (e.g., Open RAN, vRAN) is a plus.
