Placements24 is seeking a Telecoms Network Administrator for a fully remote role in South Africa. You will manage day-to-day network operations, ensure availability and security of the telecoms infrastructure across the Free State and beyond, while working from home.

Responsibilities include installing and upgrading devices, monitoring performance, maintaining security controls (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS), backups and DR planning, and keeping documentation up to date.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of network admin experience in telecoms infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and SNMP.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the installation, configuration, and upgrading of network hardware and software.
• Monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and implement preventative measures to ensure optimal operation.
• Manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Perform regular backups of network configurations and data, and develop disaster recovery plans.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity and performance issues reported by users or monitoring systems.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, including IP addressing schemes, network diagrams, and asset inventory.
