You will work with routers, switches, and CPE, handle outages, and communicate solutions clearly to customers while adhering to safety standards. A valid license and telecom know-how are required.

Qualifications

• Experience with routers, switches, and customer premise equipment.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the telecommunications sector, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecoms Field Technician to join their operational team in Midrand, Gauteng . This role is essential for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunication equipment and infrastructure at various customer sites and network facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the high quality and reliability of services delivered to clients, often working independently in the field. Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, modems, and customer premise equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on network infrastructure to prevent service disruptions.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to voice, data, and video services.
• Respond promptly to service calls and emergency maintenance requests.
• Communicate effectively with customers to explain technical issues and solutions.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while working on-site.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service reports and equipment logs.
• Collaborate with the network operations center (NOC) to lift and resolve complex problems.
• Ensure all customer premises are left clean and tidy after service completion.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification;
• Technical certification in Telecommunications or electronics else extra.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications principles, including copper and fibre optic cabling.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and test equipment for network troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of different telecommunications systems and protocols.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, as required.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift heavy equipment.
