Placements24 is seeking a Telecommunications Field Technician for on-site work in Tembisa, Gauteng, to support the deployment and maintenance of a cutting-edge 5G network. You will install, configure, test, and troubleshoot telecom equipment, including antennas, base stations, and fiber optics, ensuring high performance and reliability.

The role requires RF principles understanding, experience with fiber installations, and the ability to read technical drawings.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in telecommunications or electronics is preferred.
• Proven experience as a Field Technician or similar role in telecommunications.
• Solid understanding of 4G/5G technologies, RF principles, and mobile network architecture.
• Experience with fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing.

Responsabilidades

About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the telecommunications industry, is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecommunications Field Technician for their operations in Tembisa, Gauteng . This role is crucial for the successful deployment and maintenance of cutting-edge 5G network infrastructure. The Field Technician will be responsible for on-site installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair of telecommunications equipment. This is a hands-on position that requires a strong understanding of RF principles, fiber optics, and mobile network technologies. You will be instrumental in ensuring the high performance and reliability of our client's 5G network, directly impacting customer experience and network coverage.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment, including antennas, base stations, and associated hardware.
• Perform routine maintenance and diagnostic checks on network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to 5G network equipment and connectivity.
• Conduct site surveys and assessments for new installations and upgrades.
• Work with fiber optic cabling, including splicing and termination.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company procedures during all field operations.
• Document all work performed, including installation details, test results, and issue resolutions.
• Collaborate with network operations center (NOC) teams and other technical personnel.
• Respond to service calls and emergencies to minimize network downtime.
• Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and tools used in the field.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in telecommunications or electronics is highly preferred.
• Proven experience as a Field Technician or in a similar role within the telecommunications sector.
• Solid understanding of 4G/5G technologies, RF principles, and mobile network architecture.
• Experience with fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing is essential.
• Familiarity with network troubleshooting tools and techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
• Physical stamina to work outdoors, climb ladders, and lift heavy equipment.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
