First Point Group is seeking a Technical Sales Consultant to manage and grow its installer network across Cape Town and the greater Western Cape. This role blends field sales with hands-on technical support, requiring you to plan visits, troubleshoot on site, and deliver training.
You will use CRM to log interactions, prepare weekly reports, and act as a brand ambassador. A proactive, outgoing attitude and solid technical troubleshooting ability are essential for success.
Our client, a well-established South African manufacturer of gate automation and access control products, is looking for a Technical Sales Consultant to look after and grow its installer network across Cape Town and the greater Western Cape region.
Despite the title, this is a technical account management role rather than a traditional sales position. There is no quoting, invoicing or selling to a target. You will build strong, long-term relationships with an established base of installers and help them make the most of the full product and service range. You will be given the customer lists, data and systems you need. From there it is up to you to plan your territory, book your own meetings and go out to see customers in person, including those who have not been visited in some time.
A large part of the role is technical. Installers will look to you for help with installation queries, diagnostics and escalations on site. You will provide hands‑on troubleshooting support and pass unresolved issues to the internal technical support and product quality teams. You will also deliver product training in the field and act as an ambassador for the brand. Every interaction is logged in the CRM, and you will submit weekly reports on site visits, installer feedback, market trends and competitor activity. You will be supported by a central control room team that coordinates bookings, claims and day‑to‑day operations for consultants across the country.
The ideal candidate combines solid technical and troubleshooting ability with the drive to go out and create their own work. You may come from a field technician, installer, technical support or technical sales background in access automation, electronic security or a related industry. What matters most is that you are proactive, quick on your feet, strong at building relationships and able to think strategically about how to manage your territory. Product knowledge can be taught, but the right attitude cannot!
This is an excellent opportunity for a self‑driven, technically minded professional who enjoys being out in the field, solving problems and building relationships that last.
