The ideal candidate has 3+ years in a poultry production setting, is computer-literate, willing to work shifts, and able to perform under pressure while coordinating with maintenance and management.

Qualifications

• Matric completion is required.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on poultry breeder operation experience.
• PME qualification or willingness to obtain is required.
• Experience in high-throughput production environments is essential.
• Computer literacy and willingness to work shifts are required.
• Must be hardworking, honest, self-motivated and willing to work overtime when necessary.
• Ability to manage staff professionally, work independently and cope under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Manage staff attendance, performance evaluations and conflict resolution.
• Train new team members on SOPs and line mechanics.
• Perform processing duties including maintaining quality, hygiene, and process flows.
• Communicate with senior management and report production metrics.
• Monitor line speed, yields, and minimize product giveaway.
• Coordinate with maintenance for servicing and breakdowns.
• Enforce HACCP food safety standards and conduct quality checks.
• Maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace and ensure safety at the workplace.
• Other duties as assigned and implement Health & Safety procedures.

Role Overview

Goldi, one of South Africa's leading integrated poultry producers within the Astral Group, is seeking a high-energy, detail-oriented Team Leader to oversee the daily operations on the relevant processing line.

Role Responsibilities

The role will report to the Production Manager.

• Manage staff attendance, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution and ensuring that all positions are managed at all times.
• Train new team members on standard operating procedures (SOPs) and line mechanics.
• Performing all processing related duties, including the maintaining of quality, food hygiene, process flows, volumes
• Interaction and communication with senior management.
• Monitor the line to ensure optimal speed, yield optimization, and minimal product giveaway.
• Coordinate with the maintenance team for scheduled servicing and breakdowns.
• Report hourly and daily production metrics to the Production Manager.
• Enforce strict HACCP food safety standards.
• Conduct regular quality checks on product specifications, temperature controls, and packaging, and ensuring efficiencies are met.
• Maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace and safety at the workplace.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintaining and implementing 20keys principles and Health and Safety of the department.

Required Qualifications And Knowledge

• Matric;
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in a poultry breeder operation.
• Candidate must either be in possession of a PME qualification or be prepared to obtain such a qualification;
• Experience in a high through-put production environment is essential;
• The person must be computer literate and be prepared to work shifts;
• The candidate should be hardworking, honest and self-motivated and willing to work overtime when necessary;
• Must be able to manage staff professionally, work independently and cope well under pressure.
