Role Overview
Goldi, one of South Africa's leading integrated poultry producers within the Astral Group, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Laying Foreman to oversee daily operations on a poultry breeder farm.
The successful candidate will be responsible to manage the daily operations at a poultry breeder farm to ensure optimal egg production, fertility, and bird health. To lead the team, oversee biosecurity protocols, and maintain environmental and feeding systems. keep our production environment running at peak efficiency.
Role Responsibilities
The role will report to the Laying Manager.
- Monitor daily feed and water intake, body weight uniformity, and flock health.
- Collect, grade, fumigate, and store hatching eggs according to strict hygiene standards.
- Ensure all staff follow sanitation protocols, footbath rules, and shower-in/shower-out procedures.
- Train, roster, and oversee general farm workers.
- Check automated feeding, nipple drinking, ventilation, and lighting systems daily.
- Maintain accurate daily logs on mortality, feed consumption, egg counts, and medicine usage.
- Ensure strict adherence to all farm biosecurity protocols to prevent disease transmission, and maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace.
- Site maintenance according to company standards.
- Avian welfare.
- Ventilation and resource management.
- Vaccination administration.
- Implementation of production performance and 20 Keys standards.
- Work efficiently within a team environment with tact, professionalism and patience.
- Be willing to work weekends, public holidays and after-hours when operational requirements dictate.
Required Qualifications And Knowledge
- Matric;
- National Diploma or Certificate in Agriculture / Animal Production
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in a poultry breeder operation.
- Knowledge and practical understanding of poultry biosecurity and animal welfare requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and high standards of housekeeping.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing operational requirements.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Must be willing to work weekends and public holidays.
