Job summary

Astral Foods Ltd in Gauteng seeks a Senior Farm Manager for its broiler division to drive production cycles, site structure and biosecurity across seven broiler sites. The role reports to the Operations Manager: East Rand and requires overseeing production, maintenance and safety teams.

You will monitor key metrics, manage budgets, and utilise data insights to improve FCR, ADG and mortality. A matric qualification is essential, with a relevant agriculture degree advantageous and 3–5 years

Qualifications

• Matric qualification is required.
• A relevant Degree/Diploma in Agriculture will be advantageous.
• 3–5 years of relevant broiler experience or experience managing a large poultry production complex.
• Computer literacy is advantageous.
• High standards of housekeeping and attention to detail are essential.
• Passion for implementing 20 Keys and strong self-motivation with excellent people skills.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for seven broiler sites and reporting to the Operations Manager: East Rand.
• Conduct routine site visits and audits.
• Use data-driven insights to identify risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement in operations.
• Track production metrics (FCR, ADG, mortality) and implement corrective actions.
• Manage staff across production, maintenance and health & safety; control own budget.
• Maintain company assets and continuously strive to improve results.

Role Overview

Festive, one of South Africa's leading integrated poultry producers within the Astral Group, is seeking a Senior Farm Manager for their broiler division. The role will focus on completion of commercial production cycle, site structure, biosecurity, and operational teams across large-scale poultry unit.

The Ideal Candidate Would Be Responsible For

• The Role will report to Operations Manager: East Rand.
• Taking responsibility for seven Broiler sites.
• Do Routine site visits and audits.
• Use data-driven insights to identify risks, trends, and opportunities for operational
• Track key production metrics such as feed conversion ratio (FCR), average daily gain (ADG), and mortality rates, recommending corrective actions where needed.
• Managing staff, Production, Maintenance and Health & Safety.
• Controlling own budget.
• Maintaining the Company’s assets and constantly striving to improve results.

The Successful Candidate Must Meet The Following Requirements

• A Matric Qualification.
• Relevant Degree / Diploma in Agriculture will be an advantage.
• 3 - 5 years relevant Broiler experience or experience in managing a large Poultry Production complex.
• Computer knowledge will be an added advantage.
• The ideal Candidate must have high standards towards housekeeping and attention to detail.
• It is essential that the Candidate should have the passion for implementing 20 Keys.
• The successful applicant must be self-motivated and have excellent people skills.
