Job summary

Astral Foods Ltd, within Festive division, seeks a Maintenance Engineer to ensure safe, efficient operation of the processing plant and to minimise downtime. You will drive preventative maintenance, budgeting and capital project implementation while coordinating with multiple departments at management level.

The role favours technical electrical qualifications, a Factory CoC (or in progress) and willingness to work overtime/weekends; poultry/FMCG experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Technical electrical qualification with CoC for Factories or in progress.
• Overtime and weekend work available when required.
• Experience in poultry or FMCG plants is advantageous.
• Knowledge of the 20 Keys Program is an added advantage.

• Assisting with preventative scheduling, task lists, reports and analyses to optimize plant.
• Optimizing stock control of all engineering parts.
• Contract management, planning, control and implementation of capital projects.

• Implementation & maintenance of sustainable projects on site that will improve plant running costs per unit.
• Daily interaction with various departmental & inter-group role players at management level.

Job description

Festive, one of South Africa's leading integrated poultry producers within the Astral Group, is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for their engineering commercial division. The role will focus on ensuring continuous, safe and efficient operation of specialised slaughtering and processing while minimising costly downtime.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate would be responsible for:

• Continuous optimization and analyses of the Processing plant preventative maintenance
• Assisting with preventative scheduling, task lists, reports and analyses to optimize plant
• Optimizing stock control of all engineering parts.
• Contract management, planning, control and implementation of capital projects.
• Assisting in compiling of annual maintenance budget and control.

Requirements

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

• Must have a technical tertiary qualification preferably in the electrical field with a “Certificate of Competency for Factories” or be in the process of obtaining one.
• Must be able to work overtime & on weekends when necessary.
• Experience in a Poultry Plant or FMCG plant will be to your advantage.
• Knowledge of the 20 Keys Program will be an added advantage.
