Job summary

Watershed Consulting seeks a Senior Infrastructure System Analyst to join an on-site delivery team in Johannesburg. This role focuses on infrastructure and DevOps analysis, requirements management, and documentation. Initial 6 months with potential renewal and relocation options are available.

Qualifications

• Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5-8+ years of business analysis experience in technical environments, ideally with infrastructure, DevOps, or platform teams.
• Proven experience with process mapping, requirements documentation, and traceability management.
• Experience coordinating testing activities (SIT/UAT) and managing defects through to resolution.
• Familiarity with Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, and Visio.
• All background and security checks must be clear prior to engagement.
• Preferred: Banking or financial services experience, exposure to cloud, middleware, or enterprise infrastructure, knowledge of SRE principles, Agile/SAFe experience, and relevant certifications (CBAP, ISTQB, Agile BA, Scrum).

Job Title

System Analyst - Infrastructure & DevOps

Description

We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure System Analyst to join an infrastructure and DevOps-focused delivery team in Johannesburg. This role is on-site 3 days per week, initially for 6 months with potential renewal

All background and security checks must be clear prior to start. There is an option for relocation and internal availability checks are encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Requirements Management: Elicit, analyse, and document business, operational, and technical requirements. Translate requirements into user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria and maintain traceability from demand through delivery and testing.
• Infrastructure & DevOps Analysis: Collaborate with technical teams to define scope, dependencies, risks, and assumptions. Document environment readiness, deployment requirements, and integration points.
• Process Mapping & Documentation: Develop as-is and to-be process flows, system interactions, and workflows using BPMN, UML, and process diagrams. Maintain clear and structured documentation for stakeholders and technical teams.
• Testing Leadership: Define testing strategy (SIT, UAT, regression, post-deployment validation). Develop and coordinate test plans, test cases, and defect management. Ensure requirements are testable and validated prior to deployment.
• Architecture Support: Support solution design by documenting system interactions, constraints, and dependencies. Provide impact analysis and assist with design validation and release readiness.
• Stakeholder Management: Facilitate workshops, requirement sessions, and test readiness meetings. Act as liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams and report on delivery progress, risks, and issues.
