Job summary

DSV Cape Town is seeking an Ocean Export Supervisor to lead the daily ocean export operations, ensuring accurate processing in line with customer requirements and company procedures. You will drive performance, manage staff, and strengthen relationships with customers, carriers and internal stakeholders.

The role requires 7+ years in ocean freight forwarding and 2+ years in supervision, with readiness to work overtime and possess leadership training.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate required.
• 7+ years experience in ocean freight forwarding (import/export).
• 2+ years in a supervisory role.
• Own transport and willingness to work overtime.
• Leadership courses or management programs preferred.

Main Purpose of the Role:

The Ocean Export Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day operations of the Ocean Export department, ensuring that all export shipments are processed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with customer requirements, company procedures, and industry regulations. The role provides operational leadership to the team by driving performance, maintaining service quality, and ensuring that departmental objectives and customer expectations are consistently achieved. A critical aspect of the role is building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, carriers, overseas offices, transport providers, and internal stakeholders. Through regular customer engagement and performance monitoring, the supervisor ensures SLA and KPi commitments are met while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, operational efficiencies, and business growth.

Job Related Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in ocean freight forwarding Import and Export
• Minimum 2 years in a supervisory role
• Own Transport
• Ability to work overtime / after hours when required
• Leadership courses (DSV talent pool etc.) OR Management programs – advantage

• Processing of ocean export shipments – end to end
• To drive metric performance

• Identifying problems in a project design and evaluating alternative methods

• To ensure accurate and timely reporting
