Job summary

DSV - Global Transport and Logistics in Cape Town seeks a Logistics Coordinator to manage transporter information, align with client requirements, and ensure service levels are met.

You will coordinate inbound/outbound activities, monitor KPIs, support process improvements, and maintain data integrity across systems while building strong relationships with transport partners and customers.

Qualifications

• Matric or equivalent is required.
• Qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Transport Management is advantageous.
• Intermediate to proficient Excel and PowerPoint for data management and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate/Consolidate transporter information into a presentable format.
• Understand and implement client business requirements and SLAs.
• Develop strong, trusting relationships with clients and transporters.
• Monitor KPI performance and proactively manage deliverables.
• Maintain reports aligned with KPI and contractual obligations.
• Ensure data flow between transporter systems is accurate daily.
• Support in process creation, SOPs, and change management.
• Ensure compliance with documentation, export/import controls, and regulations.

Job Related Requirements

• 2-5 years relevant experience in:
• Retail industry (Transportation Role)
• Supply chain environment.
• Customer Services with regards to dealing with all levels of functions from clients (internal & external) within a Warehouse and Transportation environment.
• Transporter service level management
• Intricate understanding of synergies to be able to achieve the best output between the warehouse & transporter as per the clients’ requirements/KPI
• Extensive knowledge of Inbound, Outbound and Return processes and workflows including transportation requirements (Warehouse/Transport)
• Sound and proven skills in Organizing, Directing, Controlling & Monitoring.
• Must be able to meet and manage customer expectations and ensure compliance to Policies, Regulations, Work Instructions and Workloads.
• A sound understanding of the Supply Chain.
• Good understanding of domestic and cross border/international transport requirements
• Focus on compliance levels with regards to documentation and export & import controls
• Good interpersonal skills for client account management.
• Must be able to build and maintain strong relationships with customers (internally & externally)
• Must have the ability to handle conflict on a tactical and operational level.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with all levels of management.
• Punctuality and good time management skills are essential elements for this position.

Main Purpose of the Role

This role will be responsible for the management, support and coordination of all transporters information and deliverables to ensure the customers service levels are met.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Transporter management: Co-ordinating/Consolidating all the information from various transporters in a presentable manner
• Understand the client’s business & requirements.
• Understand the client’s customer requirements.
• Develop a strong, trusting relationship with clients and transporters.
• Deep understanding and execution of contractual SLAs & KPI’s
• Proactively driven to identify, action, and manage on deliverables.
• Adherence to tasks not stipulated in job profile i.e., audit compliance, adhoc duties due to operational requirements.
• Maintain various reports in line with KPI and contractual obligations.
• Complete daily system checks to ensure all data to and from the transporters system is working.
• Daily team meetings with various stakeholders, aligned to client and transportation deliverables.
• Ensure client queries are managed daily and necessary escalation and issue resolution is addressed within KPI
• Support in creating and maintaining processes, SOP’s, Work Instructions etc.
• Training and role out of change management processes
• Ensure on going performance measurement, systems and metrics are used and in line to service excellence and client centricity
• Have clear and consistent communication within operation and between the warehouse, transporter and client to ensure all achievements and exceptions are managed pro-actively to ensure proper management of expectations
• Consistently reviewing data to identify areas of improvement to support the overall services and development of the transportation product.
