Job summary

Rheinmetall Denel Munition seeks a Supervisor I to lead a team in manufacturing high explosives, ensuring daily production targets are met while upholding safety, quality and efficiency standards.

You will coordinate resources, drive LEAN initiatives, manage training, and maintain stock records, reporting to the Line Manager and complying with ISO SHE requirements.

Qualifications

• National Senior Certificate or equivalent.
• 3+ years’ practical experience in the manufacture of High Explosives.
• Knowledge of different High Explosives and handling of hazardous substances and explosive material.
• Basic Computer literacy.
• Adaptable and flexible in a working environment.
• Willing to work shifts as required by the business.
• Read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, coordinate and control resources to ensure efficient manufacturing of high explosives.
• Maintain production schedule and productivity.
• Read, interpret and ensure compliance with Product Specifications, PMI, FOI and CP.
• Effectively manage and maintain training of personnel.
• Maintain explosives environment housekeeping standards and SHE requirements.
• Analyze production data and rectify bottlenecks.
• Lead LEAN implementation within the facility.
• Communicate daily targets to the team and provide feedback to the Line Manager.
• Adhere to Rheinmetall Denel Policies and ISO standards with respect to SHE/Quality/Environmental/Energy.

What We Are Looking For

Purpose of the Job

The Supervisor I will be responsible for ensuring that daily production targets are met in line with the company’s safety, quality and efficiency targets. The Supervisor will lead a team to manufacture high explosives products in line with the designated policies and procedures.

Key Performance Areas

• Plan, schedule, coordinate and control resources to ensure the efficient manufacturing of high explosives.
• Maintain production schedule and productivity.
• Read, interpret, implement and ensure compliance with Product Specifications, Product Manufacturing Instructions (PMI), Facility Operating Instructions (FOI) and Control Plans (CP)
• Effectively manage and maintain training of personnel
• Maintain explosives environment housekeeping standards and SHE requirements in line with organizational requirements and the Explosives Act.
• Analyze production data such as shift output and rectify bottlenecks.
• Liaise with other functional groups regarding requirements.
• Lead and manage the implementation, and maintenance, of LEAN principles and methodologies within the respective facility.
• Responsible and ethical leadership with a strong ability to maintain discipline.
• Knowledge of daily reports and accuracy of information.
• Manage consumables and stationery; issue, record, monitor and load requests.
• Monitor maintenance schedules, observe trends and give corrective actions if applicable.
• Manage and monitor scrap and waste; determine the cause of deviation and initiate corrective action.
• Responsible for monitoring stock levels and accurate recording of stock.
• Communicate daily targets to the team and provide feedback to the Line Manager.
• Any other ad hoc task as requested by the Line Manager.
• Adhere to all applicable legislation within Rheinmetall Denel Munition.
• Adheres and implements Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance to ISO Standards with respect to SHE/ Quality/ Environmental/ Energy.

What Qualifications You Should Have

• Knowledge of different High Explosives and handling of hazardous substances and explosive material.
• Basic Computer literacy.
