Job summary

Rheinmetall Denel Munition seeks an instrumentation professional to maintain plant systems and program software for integrated electrical and pneumatic equipment. You will calibrate instrumentation, interpret drawings, and compile installation lists while collaborating across disciplines and driving projects.

Candidates should have a National Diploma in Instrumentation or Artisan qualification, 3+ years’ plant experience, and proficiency in PLC/SCADA/HMI programming along with MS

Qualifications

• National diploma in Instrumentation or NQF Level 6 equivalent.
• Trade qualification as Artisan is required.
• Valid code 8 driver’s license.
• At least 3 years’ experience in a plant manufacturing environment.
• Explosives industry experience is advantageous.
• Programming knowledge: PLCs, SCADA, HMIs.
• Computer literacy: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Willingness to work overtime and be on standby.
• Ability to work in a team and unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Carry out plant statutory, preventative and breakdown maintenance.
• Program software to integrate electrical and pneumatic equipment (e.g., Siemens).
• Calibrate instrumentation control components.
• Compile material and equipment lists for installation.
• Analyse and interpret electrical/instrumentation drawings.
• Handle spares, materials and components.
• Assist with panel building, wiring, piping and cabling.
• Assist with panel and cable marking.
• Assist with instrumentation design and review activities.
• Understand control and instrumentation drawings deeply.

• Compiling material and equipment list for installation

• Assist with instrumentation design and review activities


• An in-depth understanding and working knowledge of control and instrumentation activities and drawings


• Experience in implementation of instrumentation projects and software programming


• Good planning, integration and resources management skills


• Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively collaborate with multiple disciplines both internally and externally.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentations and report writing

What Qualifications You Should Have

• Experience in explosives industry would be advantageous.


• Programming knowledge (PLCs, SCADA, HMIs).


• Flexible and exceptional interpersonal skills.


• Computer literacy (MS word, Excel, Power Point).


• Good communication.


• Willingness to work overtime and to be on standby.


• Ability to work well in a team and alone with minimum supervision.
