Job summary

Rheinmetall Denel Munition seeks a senior procurement leader to negotiate multiyear contracts, identify strategic suppliers, and drive cost savings across Material, Capex, Non-Stock, Shipping and Services.

The role involves life cycle costing, risk management, and developing procurement strategies with cross-functional teams in a technical/mechanical environment. Driver's license is essential and SAP proficiency is required.

Qualifications

• B Comm. / B Tech degree or equivalent qualification.
• Technical Qualification would be advantageous.
• At least 5 years’ procurement experience with at least 3 years on a management level
• At least 5 years’ procurement experience in a Technical / Mechanical Environment
• At least 5 years’ material handling experience
• Project management experience
• Strong Commercial Orientation and Planning skills with highly organized approach
• Excellent Negotiation and Communication Skills
• Advanced Computer Literacy (MS Office Packages and SAP)
• Ability to work independently, show initiate and demonstrate good judgement
• Good Problem-solving skills
• Sound financial and technical background
• Driver's License is essential

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and enter into multiyear cost-effective contracts with major suppliers in conjunction with Executive Manager Procurement and GM Supply Chain
• Determine and ensure availability of strategic suppliers for specific specialised areas
• Achieve cost savings targets on Material, Capex, Non-Stock, Shipping and Services
• Preparing and executing annual cost reduction strategies and Value Engineering Projects
• Conduct regular commodity market research, identify procurement risks and implement risk avoidance strategies
• Implementation of specific Procurement Strategies based on technical & customer requirements
• Procurement Lead during the Strategic Sourcing Process
• Coordinate supplier clarification sessions and technical reviews with cross functional teams and suppliers
• Supplier Risk Assessments, Due Diligence and Performance Management
• BBBEE procurement and support
