Job summary

Rheinmetall is seeking a Chief Security Officer to manage physical security at the Boskop site, supervise shifts, patrols, and access control, and coordinate emergencies. The role ensures adherence to NKP and PSIRA requirements while aligning with Rheinmetall policies and ISO standards.

Ideal candidate holds a Diploma in Security Management, PSIRA Grade A registration, firearm competency, and 5–7 years in security with supervisory experience. Willingness to shift work and overtime is required.

• PSIRA Grade A registration.
• 5–7 years in security with 2–3 years supervisory experience.
• Firearm competency (Handgun, Shotgun, Rifle).
• NKP Site experience is advantageous.
• Code B driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise security personnel on shifts, access and egress control, guarding and patrolling the site.
• Manage equipment and resources in security operations.
• Investigate and report security incidents to RDM & NKP.
• Maintain control over security keys and emergency access.
• Oversee security vehicle inspections and checklists.
• Inspect and ensure completeness of security documentation and registers.
• Perform access control for employees, visitors, deliveries and trucks.
• Ensure compliance with NKP/Legal/PSIRA requirements.
• Provide information and documentation to stakeholders.
• Coordinate emergency response during incidents.
• Ensure compliance to Rheinmetall policies and ISO standards (SHE/Quality/Environmental/Energy).

What We Are Looking For

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Chief Security Officer will be responsible for the physical security functions of the Boskop Site. Chief Security Officer is also appointed in terms of the National Key Points Act as the Chief Security Officer and is responsible for supervision of security personnel working shifts, guarding and patrolling of areas according to the Security rules and regulations, reporting and investigating security related incidents, coordinating emergencies and ensure proper alarm reaction procedures.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Supervision & Control: Supervision of personnel on shifts, access and egress control, guarding and patrolling of the site.
• Control over the Equipment and Resources: Effective supervision and Control over security Equipment and Resources.
• Incident Reporting and Investigation: Investigate and reporting on incidents to RDM & NKP.
• Key Control: Control over RDM keys for Security and emergency purposes.
• Security Vehicles: Control over vehicles i.e. inspections and checklists.
• Documentation and Document Control: Inspection of all security documentation and registers for completeness and correctness.
• Access control: Checking employee’s and visitor’s ID, searching for employees, visitors and vehicles, escorting and checking documents for deliveries and trucks leaving the site.
• Competence & training- compliance with NKP/Legal/PSIRA requirements.
• Communications: Provide information, documentation and information to relevant stakeholders.
• Emergency Co-ordination: Effective emergency response during incidents.
• Adheres and implements Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance to ISO Standards with respect to SHE/Quality/Environmental/Energy

Post Requirements

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

• Diploma in Security Management (NQF 6) or relevant equivalent experience accredited by SAQA.
• Valid Grade A Security Training (PSIRA registered).
• At least 5-7 years working experience in security field, of which 2-3 years must be at a supervisory level.
• Experience performs security functions at a registered NKP Site would be advantageous.
• Firearm competency is essential (Handgun, Shotgun, Rifle).
• Knowledge and experience in applying security related legislations.
• Ability to exercise a degree of judgment and ability to act quickly in an emergency.
• Demonstrate ability to manage performance of security contractor/service provider.
• Good problem solving, persuasiveness and client relationship skills.
• Good interpersonal, facilitation and conflict management skills.
• Good communication, planning and organizing skills.
• Code B driver’s license is essential.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Willingness to work shifts and overtime, as and when required.
