Job summary

Placements24, on behalf of a prominent engineering firm, seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the design and analysis of mining and heavy industrial facilities in Rustenburg. The role entails developing drawings, calculations and specifications while ensuring SANS compliance and safety standards.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, perform site inspections, manage deliverables, and mentor junior staff, with opportunities for professional growth in the North West province.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• ECSA Pr. Eng registration is mandatory.
• 7+ years post-graduate experience in structural engineering with mining/heavy industrial exposure.
• Proficiency in SAP2000, ETABS or STAAD.Pro.
• Strong knowledge of SANS-based steel and concrete design.
• FEA experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for mining and industrial facilities.
• Develop detailed drawings, specs and calculations.
• Ensure designs comply with SANS and relevant codes.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and process engineers.
• Conduct site inspections to verify design integrity.
• Provide technical support to construction teams.
• Review designs prepared by external consultants/contractors.
• Manage deliverables and project timelines.
• Assess integrity of existing assets and recommend remedial actions.
• Contribute to risk assessments and safety planning.
