Job summary

Afrizan Personnel is partnering with a leading organisation in Gauteng to recruit a Head of Portfolio Management to govern, prioritise and deliver critical projects in a complex mining and industrial environment. You will lead PMO managers, drive risk management, ensure business cases, budgets and benefits realisation, and provide executive reporting on progress, spend and decisions.

The role requires 15+ years in portfolio leadership, multi-country experience, and certification in project

Qualifications

• 15+ years of relevant experience in project or portfolio leadership.
• Minimum 5 years leading a PMO or portfolio of strategic projects.
• At least 3 years in mining, industrial, or manufacturing sectors.
• Strong business acumen, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Certification in project or programme management.
• Multi-country experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and manage the project governance framework.
• Maintain an integrated portfolio of strategic capital projects.
• Recommend projects based on value, risk, capacity and dependencies.
• Ensure projects have business cases, budgets, sponsors and benefits targets.
• Provide independent oversight of project health and risks.
• Produce portfolio reports for executive leadership.
• Lead and develop PMO staff and strengthen capability.
• Track benefits and conduct post-project reviews.
• Develop scalable PMO methodologies and governance standards.
