About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and experienced leader to establish and manage their Project Management Office (PMO) in Sandton. As the Head of PMO, you will be responsible for defining, implementing, and overseeing project management standards, processes, and methodologies across the organization. You will lead a team of project managers, ensuring the successful delivery of strategic initiatives and driving project management excellence within Gauteng. This is a leadership role with significant influence on project portfolio management and organizational success.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and mature the organization's PMO, defining its structure, processes, and governance framework.
• Develop and implement standardized project management methodologies, tools, and templates.
• Oversee the project portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives and effective resource allocation.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project managers, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
• Monitor project performance across the portfolio, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for optimization.
• Facilitate communication and reporting to senior leadership regarding project status, risks, and portfolio health.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field; PMP or equivalent certification is mandatory.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years in a PMO leadership or senior management role.
• Demonstrated experience in establishing and leading a PMO function.
• In-depth knowledge of various project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
• Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
