About the Role

Our client, a leading technology and consulting firm based in Centurion, Gauteng, is seeking to appoint a highly experienced and strategic Head of Project Management Office (PMO). This critical leadership role is responsible for establishing, managing, and continuously improving the organization's project management frameworks, processes, and standards. The Head of PMO will oversee the entire project portfolio, ensuring that projects are aligned with strategic objectives, delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This position demands exceptional leadership, robust strategic planning capabilities, and a deep understanding of project management methodologies across various domains, including IT, infrastructure, and business transformation. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing the organization's project delivery capabilities and fostering a culture of successful project execution within the dynamic Centurion, Gauteng business environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish, maintain, and evolve the enterprise-wide PMO function, including governance, standards, methodologies, and best practices.
• Oversee the entire project portfolio, ensuring strategic alignment, resource optimization, and risk management.
• Develop and implement project management policies, procedures, tools, and templates to ensure consistency and efficiency in project execution.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to project managers and teams across the organization.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Manage the project intake process, prioritization, and resource allocation across the project portfolio.
• Develop and maintain project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and post-project reviews.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration between project teams, stakeholders, and senior management.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO and project management practices.
• Report on project portfolio performance, including key metrics, risks, and financial status to executive leadership.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role establishing and managing a PMO.
• Proven experience in leading and managing large, complex, cross-functional projects and programs.
• In-depth knowledge of various project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, software development lifecycles, and business process improvement.
• Exceptional leadership, team-building, and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities.
• Experience with project portfolio management (PPM) tools and software.
• Certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent is required.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment characteristic of Centurion, Gauteng's tech hub.
