Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mine Operations Superintendent to oversee East London mining operations. You will lead a large workforce, drive safety excellence, manage production targets, and coordinate with planning, maintenance, and technical services to deliver efficient, compliant operations.

The role requires a strong background in both open-pit and underground mining, with a proven track record in supervising teams and delivering results in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in mine operations management with at least 5 years in supervision.
• Proven track record of leading large teams and achieving targets.
• In-depth knowledge of open-pit and/or underground mining methods and equipment.
• Strong safety and environmental compliance expertise.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Proficiency with mine operations planning software.
• Willingness to work onsite in East London, Eastern Cape.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all aspects of mine operations to meet targets and budgets.
• Develop and enforce safety management systems for a zero-harm workplace.
• Mentor and develop a diverse team of supervisors and operators.
• Optimize performance through resource allocation and process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with mining laws, enviro regs, and policies.
• Control costs and identify efficiency and waste-reduction opportunities.
• Collaborate with planning, maintenance, and technical services.
• Oversee equipment use and maintenance; conduct site inspections.
• Report performance, safety incidents, and cost analyses to leadership.
