Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Mining Operations Manager for its East London operations. The role anchors safety, production, and profitability in underground mining, guiding a large team of mine managers, supervisors, and staff to meet strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in underground mining, with 7+ in senior roles, a Mining Engineering background, and preference for Pr.Eng. registration; MBA is a plus. Exceptional leadership and stakeholder skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field. Master's or MBA advantageous.
• Minimum 15 years in underground mining, with at least 7 in a senior role.
• Proven track record managing large-scale underground operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee underground mining operations, ensuring safety, efficiency and profitability.
• Develop strategic production plans and allocate resources to meet targets.
• Manage budgets, capex and costs to achieve financial objectives.
• Lead and develop a diverse mining team across levels and functions.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and regulatory standards.
• Drive continuous improvement and adopt new technologies to reduce costs.
