Job summary

MECS Africa is seeking a seasoned Finance leader to oversee financial management, reporting, budgeting, and controls across the business. You will drive cash flow planning, risk management, and profitability initiatives in a dynamic environment.

The role requires 5+ years in senior finance, CA(SA)/CIMA would be advantageous, strong Sage skills, and leadership of a multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ financial management experience in a similar role.
• CIMA, CA(SA) or equivalent qualification advantageous.
• Strong proficiency in Sage accounting software and financial reporting systems.
• Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial controls.
• Experience in commercial finance, financial modelling, pricing, and contract reviews.
• Knowledge of VAT, tax compliance, external audits, and B-BBEE requirements.
• Previous experience leading and developing a finance team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end and year-end financial close processes, including journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and management accounts.
• Prepare accurate financial reports, analyse business performance, and provide insights to support management decisions.
• Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital to ensure sufficient liquidity.
• Lead annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and financial planning in collaboration with other departments.
• Oversee supplier payments, creditor reconciliations, and the resolution of account discrepancies.
• Review contracts, pricing, and commercial terms to support negotiations and profitability.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, tax legislation, audits, and B-BBEE requirements.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
