Ontec Systems (Pty) Ltd. is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth in the public utilities metering sector from based in Cape Town.

The role focuses on selling electricity metering solutions to municipalities and state-owned entities, reporting to the General Manager Electricity Sales. The candidate will lead growth initiatives, forge strategic partnerships, manage key accounts, and own revenue growth targets while coordinating with technical, operations and finance teams to

Qualifications

• Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience in public sector procurement and tendering is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement business development strategies for public sector utility customers.
• Identify market trends and expansion opportunities in electricity metering.
• Lead market intelligence including competitor analysis and pricing.
• Manage relationships with municipalities and state-owned entities.
• Represent the company in contract negotiations and partnerships.
• Prepare and deliver tender responses, proposals and technical presentations.
• Collaborate with technical, operations and finance teams for delivery.
• Create monthly, quarterly and annual business plans and revenue forecasts.
• Provide regular performance reports to management.
• Track ROI on BD initiatives and adjust strategies.
• Provide feedback to product teams based on client needs.
• Support launch of new products through strategic positioning and customer engagement.
