Job summary

Cashbuild is seeking a Trainee Manager (External Applications Only) for an anchor store in the Eastern Cape. The role supports the Store Manager to protect and grow market share, ensure store standards, and drive customer service.

You should have Grade 12 with retail management experience, a valid driver’s licence, and strong accounting, HR, and leadership skills. The position requires reliability, basic computer literacy, and the ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with at least 2 years retail management experience.
• Valid drivers license.
• Valid ID or valid work permit (local).
• Strong accounting skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Computer literacy (basic).
• Strong leadership skills.
• Strong administrative skills.
• Own transport and cell phone.
• Sound knowledge of Health and Safety (OHSA) regulations.
• Strong Human Resources skills.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Management: assist to develop, implement and manage a Store Business Plan aligned with company strategy.
• Grow and Protect Market Share: assist to achieve growth in markets share in your Store as defined in the strategy plan.
• Achieve sales budgets and growth objectives by category.
• Promote customer loyalty programmes and manage advertising material distribution for maximum efficiency.
• Develop action plans proactively to protect your market when competitors enter.
• Customer Service: implement and monitor the Customer Service strategy and maintain high audits.
• Asset Control: Stock—manage shrinkage, PIC process, stock takes, movement inside the store.
• Asset Control: Cash management, petty cash, and daily banking.
• Asset Control: Fixed assets upkeep (racking, signage, IT equipment, safe).
• Human Resource Management: assist to recruit, induct, train, and develop staff; plan succession.
• Store Safety (OHSA): ensure safety compliance and incident reporting.
• Store Trading Standards: maintain housekeeping, merchandising, and correct planograms.
• Profitability: assist to achieve operating income budgets and manage the store per the financial model.
