Job summary

Cashbuild is seeking a General Assistant (Internal Applications Only) to provide comprehensive customer service in-store. You will assist customers, merchandize stock, label shelves and keep areas tidy according to store layouts.

The role requires Grade 10/NQF3 or Grade 12, English and local language proficiency, and a valid SA ID. You must be flexible to work shifts, weekends and public holidays and handle pressure. You will also support price labelling, housekeeping and OHSA safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 with 1 year related experience, or Grade 12 with no related experience.
• English and local dominant language communication.
• Valid South African ID or work permit.
• Willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays; able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Advise and assist customers on correct products and queries.
• Assist with and resolve customer complaints.
• Bulk stock area to be merchandised safely and according to store layout plan.
• Area fully merchandised according to store layout and planograms.
• Area free of obstacles; stock merchandised promptly after receipt; safe entry/exit for customers.
• Correct shelf price labelling within area of responsibility.
• Complete daily checklists for canteen and toilet/shower schedules.
• OHSA safety compliance within area of responsibility.
• Stock merchandised safely for customers and colleagues to move.
• Report discrepancies to Store Manager; report damaged stock to Store Manager.
• Integrity: comply with standards and realistic expectations; be sincere and discreet.
• Accuracy: handle details carefully; work in an orderly fashion; check work for mistakes.
• Client focus: identify and respond to clients' wishes; make clients feel welcome; seek development opportunities.
