Job summary

Placements24 in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, is seeking a Lead Chemical Process Engineer to lead the design, implementation and optimization of complex chemical processes in our advanced facilities. You will mentor junior engineers, drive innovation, and ensure alignment with process safety, efficiency and sustainability goals.

This hybrid role requires strategic thinking, strong technical leadership, and the ability to manage projects, budgets and cross‑functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering; Master's preferred.
• 10+ years in process engineering with lead or supervisory experience.
• Proven design, scale-up, and troubleshooting in chemical/petrochemical settings.
• Strong knowledge of process simulation and P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and optimization of chemical processes.
• Oversee simulations, modeling, and feasibility studies.
• Manage timelines, budgets, and resources.
• Ensure safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with R&D, ops, and maintenance.
• Develop process documentation and SOPs.
