Placements24 is seeking a Sports Facility Operations Manager in Pietermaritzburg to oversee the daily operations of premier sports venues. You will lead maintenance, security, event logistics, and customer service to ensure smooth venue performance.

The role requires at least 5 years in facility operations, a related bachelor’s degree, strong leadership and budget skills, and a passion for sports. Evening and weekend hours are required in line with events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Facility Management, Sports Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility operations management, preferably within the sports or leisure industry.
• Proven experience in budget management, staff supervision, and event coordination.
• Strong understanding of facility maintenance, safety protocols, and security management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in relevant facility management software and MS Office Suite.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by operational needs.
• A genuine passion for sports and a commitment to operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure efficient and safe facility functioning.
• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all sports facilities, grounds, and equipment.
• Manage security operations, including access control, emergency response plans, and staff supervision.
• Coordinate with event organizers to ensure all logistical and operational requirements are met for sporting events and other activities.
• Manage budgets, control operational costs, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
• Supervise and train facility staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints, ensuring a high level of service.
• Manage vendor relationships and procurement of necessary supplies and services.
