Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Operations Manager for a premier multi‑purpose sports and recreation complex in Midrand, Gauteng. You will oversee day‑to‑day facility operations, lead a diverse team, and ensure the safe, efficient delivery of services and activities.

The role emphasizes budgeting, vendor management, and continuous improvement to enhance member experience and operational excellence in the Leisure & Sports sector. Weekend/evening work may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in operations management.
• Experience in budgeting and cost control.
• Proven leadership of diverse teams.
• Knowledge of health, safety and risk management.
• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
• Availability for weekends/evenings as required.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily facility operations including maintenance, cleaning, security, guest services.
• Lead diverse staff including supervisors, maintenance personnel and front-desk staff.
• Develop and monitor budgets, control expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Manage vendor relationships and service contracts.
• Develop and refine procedures to enhance efficiency and member satisfaction.
• Oversee inventory management for supplies and equipment.
• Coordinate with Programming and Marketing for seamless events.
• Handle member inquiries and resolve operational issues promptly.
• Implement preventative maintenance programs for all assets.
• Contribute to capital expenditure planning in Midrand.
