Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate vehicles specifically equipped for the transport of hazardous and specialized materials within Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal and surrounding areas.
• Strictly adhere to all national and international regulations governing the transportation of hazardous goods, including proper placarding, documentation, and handling procedures.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections of the vehicle and cargo to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Securely load and unload specialized materials, following established protocols to prevent spills, damage, or exposure.
• Maintain accurate and detailed trip logs, delivery records, and any required incident reports.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and emergency services when necessary.
• Respond promptly and appropriately to any emergencies or incidents that may occur during transit.
• Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the transport vehicle.
• Undergo regular training and re-certification as required for hazardous material transportation.

Requirements

• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) and appropriate driver's license for the vehicle class (e.g., Code 14).
• Proven experience in transporting hazardous materials, with valid certifications (e.g., Hazchem).
• In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, safety standards, and emergency procedures for hazardous goods.
• Excellent driving record with no recent major traffic violations.
• Ability to work flexible hours and respond to urgent delivery requests.
• Strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and commitment to safety.
• Must be physically capable of performing loading and unloading duties.
• Reside in or be willing to work in the Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal area.
• Demonstrated ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
