Placements24 is seeking an experienced Specialized Freight Haulier to operate out of Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, handling oversized, overweight and hazardous cargo.

You will perform pre-trip inspections, plan complex routes, maintain logs, comply with national and international regulations, and uphold the highest safety standards. This demanding role requires a clean driving record and practical maintenance skills.

Qualifications

• Valid South African Code 10/C1 or Code 14/EC driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Proven experience in specialized freight hauling, including oversized or hazardous materials.
• Certification or specific training in handling dangerous goods is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate specialized heavy-duty vehicles for the transport of oversized, overweight, or hazardous freight.
• Ensure all cargo is loaded, secured, and unloaded according to specific safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct thorough pre-departure inspections and post-trip evaluations of vehicles and equipment.
• Plan and execute complex routes, considering factors such as road restrictions, permits, and transit times.
• Maintain detailed logs of all movements, including mileage, fuel consumption, cargo status, and any incidents.
• Adhere strictly to all national and international regulations pertaining to specialized freight transportation.
• Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks associated with transporting sensitive or dangerous goods.
• Maintain constant communication with dispatch and relevant authorities as required.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks on equipment and report any significant mechanical issues promptly.
