• Minimum 5 years as a professional truck driver, with at least 2 years hauling specialized/high-value goods.
• Ability to handle sensitive cargo with extreme care and attention to detail.
• Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and defensive driving techniques.
• Experience securing loads using appropriate methods and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate specialized heavy-duty vehicles for the transportation of sensitive and high-value goods.
• Ensure the secure loading, transit, and unloading of cargo, adhering to specific handling protocols.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and report any defects immediately.
• Plan and execute the most efficient and safe routes for deliveries and pick-ups.
• Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies related to safety and cargo security.
• Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery details.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and other stakeholders regarding delivery status and any potential issues.
• Handle documentation related to cargo, including manifests and delivery notes, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries and pick-ups.
• Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the assigned vehicle and its specialized equipment.

This role is based in the industrial port city of Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. The ideal candidate will possess a strong driving record, exceptional care in handling goods, and a commitment to safety and punctuality. You will be entrusted with the secure transportation of unique and valuable items across various regions, demanding meticulous attention to detail and professionalism within the Driving & Transport industry.

Requirements

• Proven ability to handle sensitive cargo with extreme care and attention to detail.
• Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and defensive driving techniques.
• Experience with securing loads using appropriate methods and equipment.
• Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and report issues accurately.
• Excellent time management and punctuality skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
• Residency or strong familiarity with the Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal area is preferred.
