Placements24 is recruiting a Specialized Heavy Haulage Driver for the Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal depot to transport oversized and overweight loads for major industrial projects.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in heavy haulage with strong route planning, safety discipline, and knowledge of SA abnormal load regulations. PDP preferred; candidates must be able to work flexible hours in demanding environments.

• A valid Code 14 driver's license is mandatory, with a strong preference for a PDP.
• Minimum of 8 years of demonstrable experience in heavy haulage and abnormal load transportation.
• In-depth knowledge of SA road transport regulations for abnormal loads; route surveying/planning experience.

Responsabilidades

• Operate specialized heavy haulage trucks and trailers for oversized/overweight loads.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicle/trailer to meet safety standards.
• Plan and execute complex routes with escorts, authorities and project managers.
• Secure loading/unloading of heavy equipment per specifications.
• Maintain communication with dispatch and site personnel; provide progress updates.
• Adhere to regulations for abnormal loads, permits, pilot requirements, and speed limits.
• Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on heavy haulage equipment.
• Maintain accurate logbooks, mileage records and delivery documentation.
• Meet project timelines while prioritizing safety.
• Represent the company professionally on site and with clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate specialized heavy haulage trucks and trailers for the transport of oversized, overweight, and exceptionally large loads.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections of vehicle and trailer combinations, ensuring they meet stringent safety and operational standards for heavy haulage.
• Plan and execute complex routes, coordinating with escorts, traffic authorities, and project managers to navigate challenging terrains and urban environments.
• Ensure the secure loading, securing, and unloading of heavy equipment and materials, adhering to precise specifications.
• Maintain constant communication with dispatch and site personnel, providing updates on progress and any encountered issues.
• Strictly adhere to all road transport regulations pertaining to abnormal loads, including permits, pilot requirements, and speed restrictions.
• Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on heavy haulage equipment as required.
• Maintain accurate logbooks, mileage records, and delivery documentation.
• Operate within designated timeframes and project schedules, prioritizing safety above all else.
• Represent the company professionally and maintain positive client relations on site.

Requirements

• A valid Code 14 driver's license is mandatory, with a strong preference for a Professional Driver's Permit (PDP).
• Minimum of 8 years of demonstrable experience in heavy haulage and abnormal load transportation.
• Proven ability to operate and maneuver various types of heavy haulage vehicles and multi-axle trailers.
• In-depth knowledge of South African road transport regulations for abnormal loads.
• Experience with route surveying and planning for complex heavy haulage operations.
• Excellent spatial awareness and vehicle control skills.
• A strong commitment to safety and risk management.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, as project demands require.
• Physical fitness and the ability to work in demanding outdoor conditions.
• Experience in industrial transport, mining, or construction logistics is highly advantageous.
