Job summary

Placements24 seeks a distinguished Sommelier & Wine Educator for a premier Stellenbosch winery in the Western Cape. You will curate the wine list, oversee the cellar, and lead wine tastings and educational sessions for guests and staff.

Ideal candidates will hold a recognized sommelier qualification or equivalent experience, with at least three years in a senior wine-focused hospitality role. Fluency in English is essential, Afrikaans an advantage.

Qualifications

• Recognized sommelier qualification or extensive experience.
• 3+ years in a senior wine-focused hospitality role.
• Fluent in English; Afrikaans proficiency is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an exceptional wine list and cellar inventory.
• Provide expert wine recommendations to guests in the restaurant and tasting room.
• Conduct engaging wine tastings and educational sessions for guests and staff.
• Train restaurant staff on wine knowledge, service standards and upselling techniques.
• Manage relationships with wine suppliers and distributors and ensure regulatory compliance.
