Our client, a well established company within the furniture removal and relocation industry, is seeking an experienced Shipping Coordinator to join their Cape Town team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating local and international shipments, ensuring efficient and cost-effective logistics solutions, and maintaining excellent client communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in shipping coordination or freight forwarding.
• Industry specific qualification (FIDI shipping) (advantageous).
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proactive, logical thinker who can work independently and under pressure.
• Computer literate with efficient time management.
• European language advantageous (Dutch / German / French).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate client files for FCL, LCL, Airfreight, and Groupage shipments.
• Manage imports and exports for agent and private clients.
• Liaise with clearing agents to ensure smooth clearance into and out of South Africa.
• Work closely with international partners to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Identify the most cost effective routings once bookings are confirmed to maximize profits.
• Negotiate rates with destination partners.
• Keep clients informed throughout the shipping process.
• Coordinate collection and delivery of containers with transporters.
• Maintain accurate registers for national shipments.
• Prepare rebate schedules with shipping lines.
• Report challenges and propose solutions proactively.
