Job summary

Sibanye-Stillwater is seeking a Shift Supervisor in the South Africa region to lead production teams in a safety‑driven mining environment. You will coach staff, manage performance, and ensure fair work allocation while driving operational excellence.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years as a Shift Supervisor Production, with a Blasting Certificate and Shift Supervisor Certificate, and a clean security record. Medical fitness is a must for field conditions.

Qualifications

• NQF4/Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Shift Supervisor Certificate is required.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and on‑the‑job training for reporting staff.
• Managing performance and development of reporting staff.
• Ensure fair work allocation for team members.
• Inspire team towards high performance.
• Prioritise safe production and operational excellence with focus on safety, health and efficiency.
• Improve production position on the global industry cost curve.
• Maintain SHE standards and comply with related policies.
• Participate in risk assessments and act on identified risks.
• Coordinate safety meetings and underground safety inspections and follow up on audit actions.
• Conduct planned task observations, Safe Behavioural Observations and risk assessments.
• Lead investigations into accidents/incidents and implement corrective measures.
• Ensure compliance to SHE standards, laws, codes of practice and targets.
• Communicate and drive SHE interventions and campaigns within the section.
• Foster a SHE leadership culture within the department.
• Comply with Quality Management System requirements.
• Align with ESG and Responsible Mining principles (RGMPs/eTfS).
• Review and maintain monthly production plans.

• Maintaining feedback to team and management concerning production progress.

• Supporting section objectives.
• Interacting with internal and external service providers.
• Legal, Operational & Standard Compliance: Applying legal, operational and standard compliance with regards to work, machinery and equipment inspections and the recording thereof as stipulated in section 2.15.1 of the Minerals Act.
• Monitoring of environmental conditions for compliance to legal and management specifics.
• Monitoring performances for compliance to legal and management specifics.
• Investigating incidents/accidents and property damage.
• Administration: Maintaining/monitoring formal records for area.
• Obtaining and posting all relevant reports, instructions and statistics received from economic resource departments.
• Completing all the required checklists, reports and written assessments.
• Completing and submitting documentation required for the development of personnel.
• Receiving and forwarding the ordering of all required material and resources.
• Planning production for the area of responsibility.
• Finance: Financial Supervision:
• Monitoring and controlling the finances of the Underground Operations Section to achieve Unit objectives Expenditure:
• Monitoring and controlling costs against the budget
• Reporting on variances from the budget and the reasons for those variances. Cost Savings:
• Identifying cost saving and cash conservation opportunities.
• Safeguarding company assets (fixed and working capital).
• Reducing wastage.
• Building a values-based organisational culture: Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment such as the BeQ.
