Job summary

Sibanye-Stillwater is seeking a Health and Safety professional to manage the Health and Safety function within a designated area. You will coordinate data analysis, reporting and policy compliance to ensure adherence to legislative and policy frameworks for the operation.

You will lead risk assessments, support ESG and SHE initiatives, and drive safe production and operational excellence while coaching staff and maintaining QMS documentation.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with English literacy is required.
• Be in possession of a blasting ticket (UG mining) or engineering qualification (Trade).
• Valid driver’s license where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Administration of Health and Safety data and reports.
• Compile and present management reports based on data and knowledge.
• Attend meetings and provide information and feedback to stakeholders.
• Stay updated on Health and Safety developments and technologies.
• Maintain and update policies, procedures and regulations in line with trends.
• Ensure costs are controlled and resources are used efficiently within budgets.
• Lead and coach reporting staff and manage performance and development.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 qualifications with English literacy
• Be in possession of a blasting ticket (UG mining) or engineering qualification (Trade)
• Valid driver's license (if applicable).
• Clear credit record
• Clear security screening record.
• Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
• At least 3 years risk and safety management experience, as well as administration knowledge within a mining, services or processing environment

Key Responsibilities

• Administration
• Manages all relevant data received through Health and Safety reports, screening and profiles by gathering, monitoring, manipulating, collating and analysing data based on experience and knowledge of the function.
• Presents information to management in the form of reports and provides advice based on specialist knowledge by compiling reports-based information received, scrutinizing submitted reports from the Operation and providing feedback.
• Attends and participates in meetings by providing required information based on acquired knowledge and experience.
• Keeps abreast of latest relevant Health and Safety developments, innovations and technologies by means of liaising with other sources and by attending meetings on a regular basis.
• Assists with the maintenance and updates of relevant policies, procedures and regulations in line with current trends and developments and based on own specialist knowledge.
• Ensures that costs are controlled and wastage of resources is eliminated by working within prescribed budgets. Reports deviations to Supervisor.
• Performs any other activities necessary for the effective completion of his / her work. Building a values-based organisational culture
• Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment. ESG Compliance

• Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment.
• Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks.
• Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures. SHE Management:

• Maintain department's documents.
• Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System. Focus on safe production & operational excellence

Additional Requirements

• Project management experience will be advantages
• NQF 5 qualification in Risk Management i.e. Fundamentals of Risk Management (IRCA), Risk assessment techniques and facilitation (Train the Trainer) will be advantages
