Placements24 is seeking experienced Senior Wind Turbine Technicians for a challenging offshore contract near Mossel Bay, Western Cape. You will perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on large offshore wind turbines, ensuring safety and reliability in demanding conditions.

The role requires NQF Level 4/5 in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics, 5 years of turbine experience with at least 2 offshore, and valid offshore safety certifications. Accommodation, meals, and travel are provided.

About the Role

Our client, a leading developer and operator in the renewable Energy sector, is seeking experienced Senior Wind Turbine Technicians for a challenging contract role focused on offshore wind farm maintenance near Mossel Bay, Western Cape . This position requires a high level of technical proficiency in the maintenance and repair of large-scale wind turbines, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working safely and effectively in challenging offshore environments. You will be responsible for performing scheduled maintenance, diagnosing and rectifying faults, and ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of the wind turbines. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with cutting‑on technology in the burgeoning offshore wind industry. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the energy production of the farm and contributing to South Africa's renewable energy goals. Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine scheduled maintenance, inspections, and servicing of offshore wind turbines.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults in turbine systems.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot issues and identify root causes.
• Ensure adherence to all company safety policies, procedures, and offshore regulations.
• Conduct pre-assembly and pre-commissioning checks on new turbine installations.
• Manage spare parts inventory and maintain accurate service records.
• Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to urgent repair needs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for maintenance processes and efficiency.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas in the offshore environment.
• Ensure all work is performed to the highest quality standards.

Requirements

• Relevant technical qualification (e.g., NQF Level 4/5 in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Wind Turbine Technician, with at least 2 years focusing on offshore environments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for complex electromechanical and hydraulic systems.
• Experience with specific wind turbine brands (e.g., Siemens Gamesa, Vestas, GE) is a strong asset.
• Valid offshore certifications (e.g., GWO Basic Safety Training, Working at Heights, Manual Handling, First Aid, Sea Survival).
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical safety procedures in high-voltage environments.
• Ability to work at heights and in demanding weather conditions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Must be physically fit and able to pass a comprehensive medical examination for offshore work.
