Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Water Treatment Engineer to join a globally active engineering solutions team in a fully remote role. You will design, optimize, and troubleshoot water and wastewater treatment facilities for municipal and industrial clients worldwide, with a focus on projects in Southern Africa.

You will apply advanced treatment technologies, perform process modeling, lead P&ID work, and mentor junior staff while ensuring compliance with environmental standards and regulatory

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Environmental, Chemical or Civil Engineering with a water specialization.
• Pr Eng registration or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in water and wastewater treatment design and operation.
• In-depth knowledge of conventional and advanced treatment technologies (e.g., membrane filtration, AOPs, biological processes).
• Proficiency in process simulation software (BioWin, Watergy, HYSYS).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of water and wastewater treatment plant processes and systems.
• Perform process calculations, equipment selection, and P&ID development.
• Conduct feasibility studies, conceptual designs, and pilot plant studies.
• Ensure treatment solutions comply with environmental regulations and water quality standards.
• Collaborate with project teams, clients, and regulatory bodies in a virtual setting.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and process specialists.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and optimize existing facilities.
• Prepare technical reports, design documents, and tender specifications.
