Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Water Treatment Engineer for a fully remote position. You will design and optimize water and wastewater treatment systems, develop PFDs and P&IDs, and support pilot testing and commissioning across client projects.

The role requires a Master’s in Environmental/Chemical Engineering with water treatment specialization and a Pr Eng registration or equivalent. Expect collaborative remote teamwork and ongoing technology updates.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field with water treatment specialization.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in water and wastewater treatment process design and optimization.
• Experience with membrane filtration, MBR, advanced oxidation, conventional biological treatment.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen HYSYS, IDEAS).
• Strong understanding of water chemistry, microbiology, and hydraulics.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for remote collaboration.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple project responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Design water and wastewater treatment systems, including process selection, sizing, and equipment specification.
• Develop PFDs and P&IDs.
• Conduct treatability studies and pilot plant testing.
• Optimize existing treatment facilities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Perform hydraulic and mass balance calculations.
• Prepare detailed design reports, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams remotely.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in water and wastewater treatment.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and water quality standards.
• Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
