Placements24 in Benoni, Gauteng seeks a Senior Ventilation Engineer to design and optimize underground mine ventilation systems. You will oversee ventilation networks, model airflow, monitor heat, gas and dust controls, and ensure compliance with SA regulations.

This role demands deep-level mining experience, strong leadership, and the ability to collaborate with planning, safety, and operations. The ideal candidate will have a mechanical or mining engineering background with ventilation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mining Engineering with ventilation specialization.
• Pr.Eng or PCE registration is highly desirable.
• At least 8 years of mine ventilation engineering experience in deep-level mining.
• Strong knowledge of ventilation modeling software such as Ventsim and Pandoras.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and manage underground mine ventilation networks.
• Conduct airflow surveys and modeling using Ventsim and Pandoras.
• Monitor environmental conditions and air quality.
• Develop heat stress and dust suppression strategies.
• Ensure compliance with SA mine ventilation regulations and safety standards.
• Collaborate with mine planning, operations, and safety departments.
• Commission new ventilation infrastructure and troubleshoot issues.
• Mentor junior ventilation engineers and technicians.
• Prepare technical reports and ventilation plans.
